We have just run our first expedition of the season and are delighted to report all went well.

The ship completed the itinerary exploring the Mergui Archipelago, far beyond where any foreigners have been since colonial times. Quite extraordinary experiences were had by passengers and crew alike as we delved deep into unchartered waters discovering lost lagoons, white beaches and amazing sealife.

Feedback from passengers has been good on the food and service side however a number passengers raised issue about the marine crew's handling of the zodiac type tenders. The sea was also a little choppy being the tail end of the monsoon. To resolve this Captain Brendan Murphy (USA) has been appointed as Executive Captain and will be providing ongoing safety training to the crew.

Technically, after a multi-million dollar refit lasting two years, the ship is at last running well. The refitted interiors are very comfortable and each of the ten staterooms comes with a private sitting room. The Andaman Explorer is not a cruise ship, it is as a mega yacht. Yet you get to go at at cruise ship rather than mega yacht prices!

I am glad to report that after so many licencing issues with the Myanmar government the ship is now properly registered with all necessary permits to enable coastal explorations in this mercifully forgotten place of beauty.
