Before Pandaw, the origins trace back to The Irrawaddy Flotilla Company (IFC), which once sailed the great rivers of Asia until the 1940s. This Scottish-owned enterprise began in the 1860s, growing into the largest privately owned fleet in the world, with hundreds of steamers carrying mail, cargo, troops, and passengers across Burma. With its impressive scale and pioneering river operations, the flotilla laid the foundations for a legacy of river travel that Pandaw continues to honor today.
