The Irrawaddy Dolphins of Cambodia

After many years in decline, the number of Irrawaddy River Dolphins in Cambodia’s Kratie province has stabilised in recent years thanks to concerted efforts from governments, environmental organisations and local populations. Now, with the help of sustainable tourism, there are hopes that increased awareness and support will help to continue this great work and see numbers increase once again. 

Pandaw is delighted to collaborate with the local communities in Kratie province to offer travellers a chance to witness the dolphins in their natural environment and to contribute to their preservation. During the high water months of September and October, our low-draft vessels will take advantage of the water levels and sail all the way up to Kratie, the only overnight passenger vessels to do so.
