On board at last! Pandaw Founder, Paul Strachan visits the Laos ships Last time I was in Laos was December 2018 and there has been an awful lot of water under the bridge since then. Flying up to Chiang Rai I was able to join the Champa Pandaw currently moored off Chiang Saen that has been turned by the crew into a floating café which has proved very popular with the locals.
It was emotional to be on board a Pandaw once again after so long. It was also moving to meet several crew who are all excited about the coming restart in October 2022. It really is gratifying to see that so many of the old team are so keen to get going again. The engines and other machinery were all running well, and we will start redecorating soon as we get ready for the big day.
Across the river on the Laos side of the Mekong river the Laos Pandaw and Sabaidee are likewise being readied for what looks like a busy season ahead as bookings pile in.
This week Roser and I will be in Vietnam visiting ships moored up in Saigon and Hanoi and meeting with key team members as we get ready to restart Halong Bay & the Red River in September 2022 and the Classic Mekong in October 2022. After such a difficult couple of years, it is great to be back in Asia making preparations to sail once again and to see tourism finally heading in the right direction. We are looking forward to welcoming you back aboard Pandaw very soon. Book online at pandaw.com, email us at information@pandaw.com or speak to your travel agent. |
